Dry conditions at a bone hard and dusty Southampton Sports Centre, witness to so many total mud baths over the years. Not this time for round 5 hosted by Sotonia CC, who laid on a ripping fast, flowing course full of banks and off-cambers that was high on adrenaline, low on trips to the pits.
Over 400 riders on the start line, and a youth field of almost a 100 entries – possibly the largest in the country? It was great to see the course so full with happy kids in the autumn sunshine.
In the youth races, Thomas Styles (Team Milton Keynes) and Lara Dix (Dartmoor VeloCare Control Systems) were top u14 boy and girl. Ben Coppola (FOUR4TH) and Anna Patterson (Palmer Park Velo) top U16s.
Pedro HUTCHINSON (VC Venta) took the win in the Junior men. Junior women won by Elena DAY (Montezuma’s).
Dominant victories for Mike Simpson (Beeline Bicycles RT) in the v50 men and Sam Freeman (Montezuma’s Race Team) in the Senior men. Adrian Lansley (Pedalon) fighting off Paul Lloyd (Banjo Cycles) in the v40 men.
Amy Perryman (Montezuma’s Race Team) took the senior women’s race, Kate Robson (Pedalon) first in the v40 women, Ali Ford (GS Vecchi) winning the v50 women category.
